Ashley N. Emerzian is a founding Shareholder of Emerzian Shankar For private sector business and non-profit clients, Ms. Emerzian is experienced at serving as general counsel and regularly advises such clients regarding compliance with state and federal employment laws and consults regarding business contracts, practices, policies and governance issues for various types of business entities. For higher education and K-12 public school clients, Ms. Emerzian is experienced at serving as general counsel, and advises on student and employee complaint investigations, certificated and classified employee discipline matters, and complex leave rules. Ms. Emerzian is also an experienced negotiator and sits at the bargaining table on behalf of management advising on negotiations strategies, bargaining proposals and related media communications.

Ameet Nagra is Senior Counsel with Emerzian Shankar Legal Inc. Ms. Nagra is experienced in providing counsel to the firm's business, education and non-profit clients on labor and employment, business law and governance, student conduct, workplace and school investigations and federal/state education law compliance for K-12 through higher education institutions.   She has special training as a trauma-informed workplace and school investigator, including Title IX compliance.

Inna Shankar is a founding Shareholder of Emerzian Shankar Legal Inc. Ms. Shankar’s expertise includes both public sector and private sector labor and employment matters, general business matters for for-profit and non-profit entities, and student law matters including Title IX, student drug testing, student athletics, student use of technology and student discipline matters.  Ms. Shankar also directly investigates and advises on internal investigations, including for claims of employee fraud, discrimination and harassment. Ms. Shankar also has significant retirement law experience in the public school setting including advising on CalSTRS and CalPERS laws governing creditable service, creditable compensation and post-retirement employment matters. Ms. Shankar also has expertise in both commercial and residential landlord-tenant law.
